How to Add App Testers in Google Play Console (Step-by-Step Guide)
If you're preparing your app for testing before a wider release, Google Play Console
makes it easy to manage testers. Here’s how you can set it up with your preferred
testing track, whether internal, closed, or open.
Step 1: Log In and Choose Your App
- Head over to the Google Play Console and sign in with your developer account.
- From your list of apps, pick the one you’d like to test.
Step 2: Go to the Testing Section
- Navigate to Release > Testing in the left-hand menu.
- Select the type of testing you want to set up—Internal, Closed, or Open Testing.
- Click on Manage testers for the chosen track.
Step 3: Add Testers
You have two ways to add testers:
Using Email Lists:
- Under the “Testers” tab, either create a new email list or use an existing one.
- Add testers’ email addresses (you can paste them in or upload a CSV file).
- Save the list when done.
Using Google Groups:
- Switch to the Google Groups option.
- Enter the group’s email (e.g.,
apptesterhub_community@googlegroups.com
).
- Only members of that group will be eligible to test the app.
Step 4: Share the Testing Link
- After setting up your testers, grab the opt-in URL provided in the “Manage testers” section.
- Share this link with your testers so they can sign up using their Google account.
Step 5 (Optional): Collect Feedback
To gather feedback, consider using Google Forms or a contact email under the Feedback channel.
Step 6 (Optional): Move Toward Production
- Once you've completed your closed testing and everything looks good, go to your app's dashboard.
- Click on Apply for production to move your app closer to public release.
